Level:  Introductory

As organizations become increasingly aware of the benefits metadata can provide, customers are demanding vendors take a responsible approach to metadata management. Metadata enables key functionality across enterprises including service oriented architecture management, data management and other strategic areas. Good metadata management, and a consolidated view of that metadata, can become a reality for users of the IBM product family. In this session, we describe IBM’s efforts and roadmap toward this common goal.

Steve Totman is the Team Lead Information Server Metadata Product Manager within the Information Platforms & Solutions group. Steve has proven to be one of IBM's most versatile players - he joined IBM with the Ascential Software acquisition and has extensive experience implementing enterprise integration solutions for Global 2000 companies both as a product manager and a Technical Sales Engineer, Consultant and Trainer. Steve is a member of the Product Leadership group where he was instrumental in developing and driving IBM's Information Server Strategy directing the company's future technology direction and aligning this work with customer requirements. Prior to joining the metadata team he was product manager for DataStage the industry’s premier ETL tool for four years after managing the Connectivity and SOA components and was Product Manager for the user experience teams. He is at his happiest on site with customer feeding requirements back into his engineering teams.

Paula Fricker is the Product Marketing Manager for IBM Information Server Metadata and FastTrack solutions.
